Smart shower proves hot stuff at industry awards

AKW smart shower can be controlled via a mobile phone app

AN innovative electric shower made in Droitwich, which can be regulated and controlled from a mobile phone, reached the finals of a major industry awards.

AKW’s iCare – the world’s first Bluetooth enabled smart electric shower with mobile app – was named as a domestic heating and ventilation product of the year finalist in the heating and heat recovery category at the H&V News Awards 2016. The state of the art device from the company headquarters in Pointon Way was shortlisted alongside 10 other products at the award event in the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.

The H&V (Heating and Ventilation) News Awards brings together the building services industry’s leading firms to celebrate the top innovations and businesses across the sector. Cliff Jones, UK sales director at AKW said: “The H&V News Awards is the Oscars of the building services industry and being shortlisted with the iCare shower is a great honour and reward for all the hard work that went into designing, developing and bringing this exciting product to the market. The awards received a huge number of extremely high quality entries this year, so being named as a finalist was a fantastic achievement.”

The smart shower was named as a heating and heat recovery domestic H&V product of the year finalist because of its ground breaking design, which combines contemporary style with superior thermostatic performance and sophisticated integrated wireless functionality. Built-in Bluetooth® wireless connectivity provides additional controllability, enabling users to benefit from a wide range of unique features, including remote control of water temperature and flow via a smart device application and a dedicated wake up alarm which prepares the shower for a programmed time. Equally, the BEAB Care Mark and RNIB accredited iCare was recognised for its easy installation and retrofit and inclusive features, such as the sensory user interface and audible temperature and flow control indicators, which break the boundaries of conventional electric showers and provide accessibility for all.
